We are a civic organization, comprised of resident volunteers, exploring the possibility of creating a new school district out of the southeaset quandrant of School District U-46.
We are concerned about the persistent educational under-performance and financial mismanagement of U-46, as well as the latter's harmful effect on property values and property taxes.
We are simply asking you to vote 'YES' on November 2, 2004 to this Advisory Referendum question; "Do you support creating a new unit school district separate from U-46 if it is in the best financial and educational interests of the Community?"
A yes vote will send a strong message to our Illinois State Senators and Representatives that we wish for them to act in our community's behalf as only they have the authority to do.
A yes vote will not authorize an increase in property taxes.
We also ask that you support our efforts by becoming a partner and make a donation, as your financial support will help us spread the message to others.

Bartlett's 1999 study detailed how a smaller district can operate at lower per-pupil costs and with lower class sizes. That model, available at the library, was very conservative in its financial assumptions.
Since then, U-46 has revealed its financial condition and management are even worse than assumed in 1999, far worse...
The farther students progress through U-46 the lower are their test scores, in absolute terms and relative to the poor state averages.
